Professional counselors treat clients from a developmental and wellness lens. This means that I will work with you using a strengths-based approach. While diagnoses may be required for insurance reimbursement, the goals for your treatment (decided mutually) will be to identify areas in which you are struggling and formulate a plan that utilizes your strengths to help mitigate symptoms. Please note that this process may include discomfort (e.g. sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness, or helplessness) and/or unpleasant feelings as prior events are discussed. This is a natural part of the change process and will be discussed accordingly.
As humans, we are wired for connection. Therefore, during the therapeutic process, I encourage clients to seek out support systems, which may include family, friends, 12-step, self-help and support groups, religious affiliations, group therapy, medication, and enjoyable, enriching, and expressive activities (e.g., art, writing, music, exercise, etc.), and/or complementary wellness modalities (e.g., massage, energy work, yoga, tai chi, etc.). I will provide referrals to help develop a support system at your request.
If this approach to wellness resonates with you, then we may be a great fit! Please reach out to me to discuss further. Please note that I do not accept insurance.
Starting anything new can be intimidating. The truth is that most people don’t start counseling when things in life are at their best, so beginning counseling can be extra tough! First of all, take a moment to pat yourself on the back. The fact that you made your way to this website and are reading this means that you are on a path of personal development and are looking for support. Congratulations! You are already starting to dig in and look at how you’d like to change and that is HUGE.
If you decide you’d like to take the next step forward, please contact me to set up a time to talk by phone. This will allow me to get to know you a bit and for us to determine if I’m the right fit to help you at this stage of your journey. If we both agree to move forward you’ll complete a little paperwork and we will set up your first session where I’ll get to know you a bit better and we can set goals for what you’d like to accomplish through our work together. From there we can schedule regular sessions at a pace (i.e., weekly, biweekly, monthly) according to your specific needs.
I hope to connect with you soon!
